Missions Accomplished in Triathlon
The results of the Triathlon Junior European Cup and the triathlon races of the Mediterranean Games were provided by the partners and the team members of Depar Timing.
ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup was hosted by Bucharest, the capital of Romania, as a part of the week-long triathlon festival, and the event was timed by Depar Timing timers. The organisers and the European Triathlon Union expressed their appreciation to the multinational Depar Timing team after the race.
The timing services at the triathlon races of the Mediterranean Games that is concluded in Tarragona, Spain were provided by Depar Timing’s Hungarian partners. The team, which has been collaborating with Depar Timing in several events abroad as well as in Turkey for many years, also produced the TV graphics for the live coverage in Tarragona.

43 Races in 6 Months
Depar Timing was entrusted with timing 43 races during the first half of the year. An overall of 19,550 transponders were used at these races.
Having started 2018 with the Adana Half Marathon on 7 January, Depar Timing teams successfully provided the timing services on a total of 26 race days of 17 different sporting events. The team members, who not only served in Turkey but also in United Arab Emirates and Croatia, produced the results of 20 running, 13 cycling, 5 swimming and 5 triathlon races.
While 19,550 transponders were used in the 6-month period, the highest total participation number was recorded in running races where 16,500 transponders were used up.
Besides the timing services, Depar Timing also provided the television graphics for the Vodafone Istanbul Half Marathon in April.A heavy schedule awaits Depar Timing in the second half of the year as well. September and October will particularly see several races in a row in various countries.

New Date in Edirne
Due to rescheduling of the nationwide university exams, Friendship Without Borders Half Marathon is postponed to 21 October.
Balkan Countries Friendship Association, the organizer of the event, was forced to change its original date of 1 July after the University Entrance Exams were moved to the same weekend as a result of the early Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Turkey. Whilst the date is announced as 21 October 2018, a shorter race is included in the programme. The new race is intended to be 10km but the exact distance will only be decided during the official measurement of the course at the end of June.
The overall male and female winners of the Friendship Without Borders Half Marathon this year will pocket 2,000 Turkish Liras each. There is also prize money for the master athletes in a total of 18 age categories. Top three in each age group in the 10km are offered medals and trophies.

150th Anniversary of Road Cycling Races
Road cycling races leave a century and a half behind. The first road race officially recorded was staged in France on 31 May 1868.
Road cycling, one of the most popular sports of today, has been organized for 150 years. The first official race on 31 May 1868 was held over a distance of 1200 metres between the fountains and the entrance gate of Parc de Saint-Cloud in Paris, and was won by James Moore, an 18-year old British expatriate in Paris. Moore was also victorious at the first city to city race that was run from Paris to Rouen a year later.
Road cycling has been part of the Olympic Games programme since its first edition in 1896.

Busy Weekend in Croatia
Depar Timing will provide the timing services at a number of events comprising running, cycling and triathlon races in Croatia on 2-3 June.
Papuk Extreme Challenge, organized by several institutions and clubs led by Nikola Boric, former Head Coach of Turkish Athletic Federation, will be staged in the town of Orahovica, and will see various competitions including the Cross Triathlon Croatia Championships.
Participants of the Cross Triathlon will swim 500m, bike for 12km and run 3km in the “sprint” category alongside a “super sprint” category consisting of 250m swimming, 6km cycling and 1.5km running. A total of 20 age groups will be ranked in each race.
The event includes mountain bike races, also under two separate categories. The cyclists will compete in a race of 65km with a 1,500m uphill course as well as a 40km race with 800m uphill.
Depar Timing Team in Croatia will also deliver the results of the marathon, half marathon and 11km run to be held around the Orahovica Lake and the Papuk Nature Park.
Papuk Extreme Challenge will end with the trail races where also team classifications will be made. Primary schools will compete over 500m, secondary schools over 1km and high schools over 3km while senior athletes run a distance of 5km.
