    Excitement Moves To Kartal In Triathlon

    Turkish Triathlon Federation is set to stage another event in Istanbul. Triathletes of all ages will gather for Kartal Triathlon on Sunday, 13 August.

    The races, which the timing services will be provided by Depar Timing, include Age Groups, Elites, Juniors and Paratriathletes over the Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) as well as 1/2 Sprint for Youth, 1/4 Sprint for M3 Cadettes, 1/8 Sprint for M2 Cadettes and 1/16 Sprint for M1 Cadettes.

    Dragos Coast will host the Kartal Triathlon. The technical meeting is scheduled to Saturday, 12 August.

    Istanbul Hosts Triathletes

    Istanbul’s Beylikdüzü District is set to stage the ETU Triathlon European Cup on Sunday, 30 July. The venue will witness the age groups and paratriathlon competitions on the preceding day.

    Turkish Triathlon Federation is organising the Cup at the Gürpınar Coast with the support of Beylikdüzü Municipality. A total of 300 participants are expected on the first day for the age groups and paralympic events. The race also serves as the national trials for the paratriathletes.

    On Sunday morning, Elite Women and Elite Men will compete on the courses of 1500m swimming, 40km cycling and 10km running. Besides several European countries, triathletes from Argentina, Australia, Canada and Ecuador are registered with the Cup as well.

    Timing services at the 2017 Istanbul ETU Triathlon European Cup will be provided by Depar Timing.

    Time To Swim From One Continent To Another

    29th Samsung Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race will be held on Sunday, 23 July. The event, which Depar Timing provides several services with 18 team members, received a record number of entries this year.

    Turkish Olympic Committee’s traditional “Sports For All” organisation expects 2300 swimmers on Sunday morning. Being staged every year since 1989, the race saw 1546 starters out of 2169 registrants last year. The limited quota of 1100 foreign swimmers was filled within 16 hours in January by 728 male and 372 female swimmers from 49 countries.

    The 6.5 km Samsung Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race starts from Kanlıca on the Asian side of Istanbul, finishes in Kuruçeşme Cemil Topuzlu Park on the European side. Depar Timing will provide the results to three LED screens as well as to the official broadcaster NTV Sports. Full results will be published on the website http://bogazici.olimpiyatkomitesi.org. The swimmers will be able to collect their certificates from Depar Timing stands immediately after the race.

    Depar Timing Increases Speed

    Depar Timing now serves automobile sports. The Timing Team functioned successfully at the Historical West Anatolian Rally.

    Having provided the timing services in numerous running, swimming, cycling and triathlon races to date, Depar Timing utilised its transponder systems for the first time at the Historical West Anatolian Rally, an event gathered the classic auto fans. The results were produced shortly and flawless in the race organised in Bursa by the Classic Automobile Club of Turkey under the main sponsorship of Oyak Renault.

    Historical West Anatolian Rally, one of the Group B activities in FIVA’s (International Federation of Old Vehicles) calendar, welcomed various Renault classic cars manufactured between 1958 and 1978 as well as vintage models such as Mercedes Benz, Dodge Charger, BMW, Peugeot, Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, Citroen 2CV, Pontiac Transam, Ford Anglia, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette C1, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Cadillac and Rolls Royce.

    FIVA defines “historical vehicles” as mechanically propelled road vehicles which are at least 30 years old and are preserved and maintained in a historically correct condition, and the vehicles over 60 years of age are defined as “antique”. Depar Timing is able to provide timing services for the races among such cars where the speed limit varies 20 to 50 kilometers per hour.

    Entries Close on 1 June In Edirne

    The deadline to register for the Friendship Without Borders Half Marathon is Thursday, 1 June. The race, where the Turkish-Greek border is crossed by running, will be held on 4 June.

    In the third edition of the event that is organised by the Turkish-Greek-Bulgarian Friendship Group Association, a large number of runners are expected from all around Turkey as well as from Bulgaria and Greece. The participants will start the race in Edirne, leave Turkey through Pazarkule Border Gate, and make a turn from Kastanies in Greece, heading back to where the race starts. 

    Entries for Friendship Without Borders Half Marathon will close at 24:00 on 1 June. Registration is possible via the website at www.friendshiphalfmarathon.org until that time.
