Swimming Federation Elects New President
Erkan Yalçın is elected as the President at the Extraordinary Congress of the Turkish Swimming Federation. Yalçın succeeds Aydın Karakuzu who resigned in February after doping allegations in Turkish media.
Erkan Yalçın, who has filled the role of Acting President since the resignation of Karakuzu, stood for election against Barış Bul. Yalçın received 108 votes from the 204 voting delegates while Bul received 96.The new Board of the Turkish Swimming Federation consists of the following members: Ali Güven, Haluk Önem, Afife Beşik, Salih Başparmak, Fatih Sezer, Dilek Mosturoğlu, Selçuk Demirel, Yaşar Ayhan, Kerim Altıay, İrfan Özdemir, Abdulsamet Korkmaz, Özgür Bayazıtlı, Murat Tunçbilek, Ramazan Aslantaş.

Third Year In The Hittite Land
International Hittite Run is scheduled to 14 May this year. The event includes a 10km race and a 3km public run.
Çorum Municipality, the organiser of the event, generously offers 5,000 Turkish Lira for the winner of the 10km as well as prize money for the master athletes in a total of 15 age categories. There is also prize money in 13 age groups in the public run.
Hittite Run, first staged in 2015, swiftly became popular not only in the region but also nationwide. The 10km attracts national and foreign athletes while the 3km receives large participation from the locals. It is possible to register with the race until 13 May via the website www.hititkosulari.org.
3rd International Hittite Run will start from the city centre at 10:00 on 14 May. Depar Timing is the official timer of the event.

World Record In Half Marathon
Kenya’s Joyciline Jepkosgei broke the world half marathon record with a time of 1:04:52 at the Prague Half Marathon. The 23-year-old also smashed the world records for 10km, 15km and 20km en route to her victory.
Having covered the opening five kilometres in 14:53, Jepkosgei passed through 10km in 30:05, well inside the previous 10km world record of 30:21 set by Paula Radcliffe in 2003. The Kenyan reached at the 15km mark at 45:37, and the 20km mark at 1:01:25, both better than the world records. Running just the fifth half marathon of her career, Joyciline Jepkosgei crossed the finish line in 1:04:52, taking 14 seconds off the world record set earlier this year by Peres Jepchirchir.
On the men's side, Olympic 10000m bronze medallist Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia won the race in 59:37. -

Historical City Awaits 23 April
International Bursa Osmangazi Historical City Run will be held on 23 April. The race course is now officially measured.
The major road running event of Bursa includes a 15km race and a public run at a distance of 4km. The 15km, which attracts national and foreign elite athletes as well, is measured by the French IAAF/AIMS A Grade Road Race Measurer Jean-Marie Grall, who had been entrusted with measuring the marathon and race walking courses in several Olympic Games and World Championships. During the measurement, Grall was assisted by the local measurers Rıdvan Doğan and Rıfat Arabacı. The race will be granted an IAAF/AIMS Road Race Course Certificate in its 12th edition this year.
To register with the 12th International Bursa Osmangazi Historical City Run, a form must be filled out at www.osmangazimarathon.net. The race offers USD 2,000 to the winner of the 15km, and the master athletes making the podium will pocket cash prizes in each age category.

Swimming With Carettas on 30 April
Dalyan Open Water Swimming Race will be held on Sunday, 30 April. The event, that the timing services will be provided by Depar Timing, will close the entries on 20 April.
The 3km long race, organized in 12 age categories, women and men each, starts at the İztuzu Beach, an area where the Caretta Caretta sea turtles go ashore to lay their eggs. The participants make a turn around Delikada, the island across the beach, and swim back to where they started.
The race attracts many swimmers with its theme and its distance. The registration is possible until 20 April by filling out a form at dalyantanitim.com/yuzmeyarisi, the official website of the event, prepared by the organizer Dalyan İztuzu Tourism and Introduction Foundation.
